We had a chance to tour Jane Marie Trail's newly renovated home and studio last week and have been dying to share the details with you.
Jane Marie is an artist from Spartanburg, South Carolina. She can't remember a time in her life where art was not a focus. She always carried a pad and pencil with her as a child and eventually started taking art classes to sharpen her natural art abilities.
Jane Marie entered Clemson as an art major, but changed to business management mid-way through. Her business degree helped her begin Sissy's Art which is now her personal art business which we can't get enough of.
Jane Marie believes art is the foundation of creativity. She said, "Art opens the door of imagination to endless possibilities" and we could not agree more. She also shared with us how each type of art tells a story and gives her a personal experience that may be different than someone else's personal experience. Her art is colorful and abstract and is represented all over the country.
We asked Jane Marie how she landed on Sissy's Art as the name of her artistic brand and she shared with us that her first-cousin, SaraAnn, has always called her Sissy. Jane Marie's family took the nickname and ran with it, giving Jane Marie a permanent nickname. The name seemed most appropriate when Jane Marie began to develop her art business, and now Sissy's Art is a favorite brand in the Midlands.
Jane Marie told us, "I think my friends would say that my sense of style and passion of color is expressed in my paintings and the way I carry myself." She brings color to her day to day with fun earrings and outfits. Even when Jane Marie isn't painting, she is expressing her love for art.
Jane Marie would choose the beach any day for her vacation spot. Her husband and their families love to spend time on the coast and we found a few hints of beach life throughout her Columbia home. This sweet flamingo piece is a welcoming face when you walk through the front door of the Trail home.
Meredith Christenberry found Jane Marie in a unique way, Meredith was looking for a piece of art for a client who happened to be a sorority sister of Jane Marie's. Meredith commissioned Jane Marie to complete the project.
Meredith and Jane Marie instantly connected and a few months later, Meredith introduced Jane Marie to her now husband! Jane Marie sells her art through Christenberry Collection and we are so glad she is on our team.
The tour we took was a finished product of a fully renovated home. Jane Marie and her husband were in the market for buying their first home together and they found the perfect "fix-me-up" home that you see today. She loved adding her style and flare to the newness of the renovation, but it wasn't all pink and perfect. Here are a few pictures from the "before" that Jane Marie and her husband lived in while renovations took place:
Here is the "after" of this stunning space-
It is safe to say Jane Marie and her husband did a phenomenal job on their renovations, and we are so grateful she shares her home, studio, and art with us.
Sincerely,
Meredith and Kayla
