Marian Hornsby

Marian is a Columbia, South Carolina based artist specializing in florals and landscapes.  Her bold colors and loose, expressive brushwork give her paintings a distinctive style.  A native of South Carolina, she attended the University of South Carolina earning a bachelor’s degree in fine art and a master’s in art education.  She taught at Hammond School and St. John Neumann Catholic School for 31 years. Over the years, Marian has studied with several fine artists including landscape painting with William Jamison and plein air painting in France with Karen Hagen. “I love to paint, and I always ‘see’ paintings everywhere I go.  Although most of my experience is in florals and landscapes, no subject is off limits.  Exploring new subject matter and challenging myself keeps me excited to get to the easel.”
